Training in Tae Kwon Do will be great fun for everyone including all members of your family. As well as helping you to defend yourself TKD will help you and your children to improve fitness, stamina, flexibility, focus, concentration and general well being. HED TKD provides a safe, fun environment for you to learn Tae Kwon-Do.

Can I learn Tae Kwon Do
You can become an expert at Tae kwon-do. It is very easy to start and with the help of
our professional instructors you can develop your self defence skills. From the day you
start, your training program will be tailored to your individual needs to ensure that
you progress at the best pace for you.

Can children learn Tae Kwon Do
There are many children studying Tae Kwon-Do normally starting around 6 years old as, by
this age, children often have the necessary basic motor skills required. TKD will help them to
improve these basic skills, instil confidence, along with respect, concentration and discipline.
Children enjoy the new skills they learn at Tae Kwon-Do and follow our structured training
program which provides the necessary challenges to keep them interested as their training
progresses. If your child is interested, (even at younger than 6 years old), please

Can I be a black belt?
You will be able to achieve Black belt in Tae Kwon-Do. There are ten steps or 'belts' to black
belt starting with White which we will give you at the beginning of your training. It takes three
to four years to progress to black belt depending only on your training, development and
commitment. After your Black belt you can study the Black belt syllabus, instruct others and
become more proficient in the art of TKD.

Can I start Tae Kwon-Do at any age?
Yes you can start TKD at any age. You are never too old to start. We treat you as an individual
and will tailor your training needs to help you improve on you current level of ability. We train
all kinds of people including those with disabilities.

Can my family all learn Tae Kwon Do?
Yes, we have many classes where two or more members from the same family enjoy training
together. This helps you with travel arrangements to/from classes and all of the family get to
enjoy improving their self protection and fitness skills.

What is Tae Kwon-Do?
Tae Kwon-Do is A Korean self-defence martial art. It is many things including an open hand
and foot art for self-protection and unarmed combat. Also TKD is a great way to keep fit and have fun.

What do I learn?
The syllabus for techniques and skills is exactly the same for all people. As your training progresses
you will learn self-protection skills, and ways of applying them. This includes various blocks, kicks,
punches and evasive manoeuvres as well as improving your own fitness, flexibility, stamina, focus
and concentration.

What clothing should I wear?
We suggest that you wear light tracksuit bottoms or shorts and a tee shirt or other loose fitting top.

What classes will I be in?
You will be in a class with other people of similar abilities. Your fellow students will be practicing the
same techniques, which will help you to develop a high level of skill during your training.

What level of fitness and flexibility can I expect to achieve?
We will train you according to your abilities and therefore it does not matter how fit or flexible you are
when you start. Your level of fitness, flexibility and Stamina will definitely improve as your training
progresses. How much you improve will also depend on your on individual effort and commitment.

What is a grading?
A grading is an opportunity for you to gain another higher ranking belt as your training progresses
towards Black belt level. After each three to six month period you can grade to the next colour. The
gradings are not compulsory but should you test for the grade, you will be asked to demonstrate the
techniques and knowledge that you have acquired in your classes. The syllabus for gradings is the
same for all people who have the same colour belt as you.

Where can I get my training suit if I want one?
You do not need to buy anything to start Tae Kwon-Do. Later, when you are ready, HED SPORT will
provide your training suits and any other equipment that you need. Once you have decided to train
regularly, please ask your instructor for details. HED SPORT supplies quality equipment to all of our
instructors and their students. Safety and comfort is our main concern so we ensure that you get
high quality materials.

Where are gradings held?
Gradings will be held in your area. They will be held at the club where you train or at another TAGB
club in your area.

Where do I train after my black belt?
Once you have achieved Black Belt you can continue to learn even more advanced techniques within
Tae Kwon-Do. Your instructor will be qualified to continue teaching you and instructing you in the Black
belt syllabus. Additionally you may wish to receive instruction on how to be a referee or judge at our
tournaments or qualify to become an instructor yourself.

When can I start Tae Kwon-Do?
As soon as you are ready to watch or try a FREE class, then contact us

When can I grade?
To give you time to learn and practice new skills, there is a minimum time between your gradings. At the
early stages you can grade every three to four month intervals. As you get near to black belt level, your
gradings are at 6 to eight month intervals. Your instructor will make sure that you have covered the
necessary training.

When can I take my black belt?
There are ten grades to black belt starting with a white belt which we will give you at the beginning. Training
to your black belt takes a minimum of three to four years depending on your training, development and
commitment.

Enrolment is very easy. After you have taken your first free class and decided to train with us, your

How many classes can I take?
You can take as many classes as you like. When you enrol with HED TKD you will immediately become a full member
and you can study TKD at any of our schools. Each venue provides instruction for
people of your age and ability.
